If you’ve been itching for a change of scenery and a new place to live, cost of living is one thing you must research before making the move. Housing is in high demand right now, jacking up real estate prices, causing some cities to be more expensive than ever before. The three places listed below are some of the most costly in the world right now.

Beijing, China

Though Beijing has ranked as more affordable this year than in the past, the city is still one of the world’s most expensive. The city has the most expensive housing market in mainland China; the average house will set you back $5,820 per square meter.

Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia has been making lists of most expensive cities to live in for years. It’s the most expensive city in Australia’s, and according to the Economist Intelligence Unit the 10th most expensive in the world. The city is tied with Vancouver for world’s fourth-worst housing bubble risk. In the beautiful, ocean-front city, expect to pay $1,250 in monthly expenses – and an additional $2,650 in rent.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Living in paradise comes with its downfalls. Though the city regularly ranks as one of the most livable and safest cities, it’s also one of the most expensive. Because almost everything needs to be shipped in from the mainland, Honolulu has the most expensive groceries of all 269 areas surveyed for the Cost of Living Index. The city is the third most expensive U.S. city to live in, falling only behind Manhattan and San Francisco.
